The Microtech / Marfione Whaleshark was the second knife in the catalog to use the Sub-Frame lock mechanism, this allowed the knife to use Carbon Fiber and G10 scales for ultra lightweight carry and a great array of custom options. The Whaleshark is an often forgotten model in the catalog as it was relatively short run compared to other models of the time, in the custom variants we would start to see the use of polished titanium and blued Damascus.
This would also be a platform to attempt new things for the future, such as a Thumb stud/blade stop (This exact one would later be used on the DOC and MSG Collaboration models)
The production knives can be found on the secondary from time to time and are not considered rare as the esthetics of this model are very polarizing however the custom versions are considered rare as this was part of the initial rise of the Marfione Custom Shop as we now know it.
