D.O.C. / Killswitch
(Death On Contact)
(Death On Contact)
The Microtech D.O.C. released in 2012 and would come in three distinct versions including the standard manual flipper, the Double Action automatic and the subsequent switch automatic version dubbed the Killswitch. These were all design collaborations between Anthony Marfione and Mick Strider of Strider Knives.
The iconic handle silhouette from the Strider Knives SMF and or Strider Knives SNG translated into the language of Microtech. With the addition of the flipper tab and the Sub-Frame Lock paired with a leaf style compound ground blade gave this bulky battle style knife serious offerings. The iconic Strider thumb stud / blade stop was a central design que that Microtech ensured was not left unchanged on the DOC, It was fully machined in a stepped pyramid style triangle drawing from the equally (At that point) iconic Microtech Triangle hardware and pivot.
Death On Contact (Inlay version) This would come in Titanium and Stainless Steel.

The Microtech D.O.C. also saw this early iteration as a Double Action coil fired push button automatic, these were all marked prototype and are considered very rare as there were so few released to the public. This was also years before a solid Carbon Fiber auto was ever attempted again, it would also be another 5 years until we would see the follow up to this D/A model in the Marfione Custom MSG2. These Prototype D/A DOC's would later transform into the Single Action Killswitch Auto

This serial number 007 is dated 9/2012, at this time there were only a maybe 3 other knives to properly execute the coil fired D/A.
The Microtech D.O.C. came in one last iteration, the Killswitch (Single Action) Automatic. Pulling again from a diversly dense design and mechanism rich catalog of the past, Microtech and Marfione would combine some aspects of the Select Fire model (2012) and a traditional rifle SAFE / FIRE switch. The switch on the handle acted as the manual safety for the automatic function, the switch pivoted into the SAFE position and would not depress and prevented the knife from opening.
Death On Contact - Killswitch (This particular prototype had a push button shaped like a Killswitch but did not pivot, notice the lack of the small thumb tab on the switch, these were also hand ground by Mick Strider)
